Report

The Safehaven Marine Team led by Frank Kowalski set a new Round Ireland and Rockall Record with a time of 34 Hours, 1 Minute and 47 seconds on 5-6 July 2017. Set in an anti-clockwise direction, the crew returned safely to Cork Harbour after a journey of 2000km at an average speed of 32 knots.

R. Holden of Isle of Man won the Cycling Ireland Tour of Ulster in 2002, finishing on 5 hours 57 minutes and 55 secs, 32 secs ahead of D. Easton in second and Brendan Doherty in third, both with TotalCycling.com. Brendan Doherty, Colm Bracken (Usher IRC) and Jonathan Dempsey (Classic Walls) were the three stage winners.

Donncha Cuttriss of Over the Hill Cycling Club set a new Mizen Head to Malin Head Cycling Record on 13 September 2020, when he completed the cycle in 17 Hours, 36 Minutes and 45 Seconds.

Most Women’s Records have stood since the 1950s, with Miss I Woods / Clements holding the Belfast to Dublin and Derry to Dublin records since 1953 and 1956 respectively. Eileen Sheridan has held the Dublin to Cork and Dublin to Galway records for as long (1953 and 1952 respectively).

Gavin Murdock had two wins on the first Irish Harness Racing Association 2020 raceday at Annaghmore on 11th July, Alan Wallace Snr and Jnr got one win each on the 25th July, Billy Roche had two wins on the 12th September as did Patrick Kane Jnr on the 3rd October, although that day belonged to John Richardson, who rode four winners.
